Frankie Richard Cernoch, age 75, of El Campo, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022. He was born on January 27, 1946 in Needville, Texas to the late Edward Vince and Mary Francis Janda Cernoch. Frankie graduated from Needville High School in 1964 and attended Wharton County Junior College in 1964-1966. He furthered his education by attending Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas, and graduated majoring in Vocational Agriculture. He then moved to El Campo where he started teaching a vocational shop class at El Campo Middle School. On July 30, 1977, Frankie married the love of his life, Carolyn Voldan and they made their home in El Campo. After teaching 23 years at El Campo Middle School and 10 years at El Campo High School he retired in May of 2002. After retirement he worked for himself in construction for 2 years, then worked in maintenance at St. Philips Catholic Church & School. His final stope was working for Shoppa's Farm Supply. He was a member of St. Philips the Apostle Catholic Church in El Campo, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Post 2490, an assistant Scout master of Troop 368, a member of KJT and served as Vice President, and a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He enjoyed deer hunting with his son Michael and dear friend Roy Taylor, wood working, playing cards, garage sales, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Voldan Cernoch of 44 years; sons Christopher of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and Michael of El Campo; grandchildren Cohen & Thatcher Cernoch of Martinsburg, West Virginia. He also is survived by his brothers, Alois Cernoch of Rosenberg, and Edward Cernoch and wife Sandra of Needville, his sisters Irene Dittrich of Houston and Mary Demel and husband Elroy of Schulenburg, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws: Doylene Amey, Gloria Konvicka Stavinoha, Beverly Kolonko and husband Richard, Jr., Stanley Voldan and wife Karen, and Henry Voldan and wife Sharon, and many nieces and nephews and beloved friends. Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph Cernoch, brother-in-laws, Wilbert Dittrich, Joseph Konvicka, Felix Stavinoha and niece Rhonda Cernoch. Visitation begins 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 19 at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo with a KC Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass begins 10 a.m. Thursday, January 20 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Hillje with the Rev. Michael Rother officiating. A private burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Pallbearers will be P. J. Dittrich, Heath Sternadel, Bryan Voldan, Heath Voldan, Rylan Sternadel, Byron Cernoch and Kirk Stary. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Cohen & Thatcher Cernoch, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and coworkers at Shoppa's Farm Supply. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Philip School or donor’s choice.
