J.P. Anderson, 79, of El Campo, passed away April 19, 2022. He was born on October 4, 1942 in El Campo to the late Sandy and Effie Badgett Anderson. J.P. was a Corporal in the Marines and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2490. He worked for the United States Post Office in Wharton for 28 years, retiring as Postmaster. After retiring from the post office, J.P. owned and operated the local Texas Tool Pusher for 12 years. He was active at St. Philip Catholic Church and he and his wife were the financial chairmen for the church picnic for many years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Staff Anderson of El Campo; daughter, Suzanne Gaines and husband Kirk of El Campo; son, Timothy Anderson and wife Laura of El Campo and Douglas Anderson and wife Susan of Round Rock; grandchildren, Blaise Anderson, Audrey Anderson, Abby Anderson, James Anderson, Stephen Gaines and wife Amber, all of El Campo, Jessica Gaines of Fort Worth, Thomas Gaines of El Campo, Meagan Anderson and Jenna Beth Anderson, both of Round Rock; great-grandson, Sage Gaines; and sister, Sandra Anderson of Conroe. J.P. was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary House and Patricia Anderson. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at Triska Funeral Home with a KC Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass begins 2 p.m. Friday, April 22 at St. Philip Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Rother officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Blaise Anderson, James Anderson, Stephen Gaines, Thomas Gaines, Adam Smith, Travis Woods, Cameron Ellner, andTom Kallina.
